Daniele Ramazzotti is the founder and director of the Translational Bioinformatics Laboratory (TBL). His work focuses on deciphering cancer evolution, mutational mechanisms and multi-omics heterogeneity, leveraging computational and statistical approaches to advance translational medicine.

Short biography

Daniele received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and his Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Milano-Bicocca. During his doctoral and postdoctoral training he held research positions at leading international institutions, including:

  • Stanford University (Postdoctoral Scholar, 2016–2019)
  • New York University, Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (Visiting Scholar)
  • Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (Research Intern, Trotman Laboratory)
  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology, ALFA Group (Visiting Student)
  • Yahoo! Labs Barcelona (Intern, Web Mining Research Group)

In March 2022 he joined the Department of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milano-Bicocca as a tenure-track researcher and, since March 2025, he is Associate Professor. He leads the Translational Bioinformatics Laboratory, focusing on the development of methods and tools to analyse large-scale genomic, multi-omics and clinical data in oncology and haematology.

  • 2025 Promotion to Associate Professor and consolidation of the Translational Bioinformatics Laboratory (TBL).
  • 2026 Awarded a My First AIRC Grant (MFAG 2025) by Fondazione AIRC for Cancer Research.
  • 2026 Senior/contact author of a NEJM Evidence study introducing ProgEvo and IPSS-M-Evo, an evolution-informed prognostic score for myelodysplastic syndromes.
